Steering & Suspension Systems

Your vehicles steering & suspension takes a constant pounding….pot holes, curbs, railroad tracks, debris on the road, snow, salt, rain, gravel, and all types of dirt and grime are attacking your steering & suspension components every time you drive.

The primary components are springs, shock absorbers or struts, anti-roll bars, control arms, ball joints, bushings and of course your tires.

Here are common steering and suspension problems:

Alignment = Hitting a pot hole or a curb can quickly knock your vehicle out of alignment. If your vehicle is pulling right or left, there is a good chance it is out of alignment. This will lead to uneven tire wear, a constant battle with your steering wheel, and can reduce your mileage.

Worn-out Shocks = Are you noticing a rougher ride than normal?  The primary reason is normally worn out shock absorbers. If you are feeling the road more than normal, and the vehicle seems to bounce when going over bumps, there is a good chance your shocks are in need of replacement. Worn out shocks will impact your handling and safety.

Struts = Many vehicles now have struts instead of shocks. When struts fail, a common indication is a knocking or pounding noise when you are going over bumps or railroad tracks. Like shocks,  struts are vital to your vehicles handling and safety.

Springs = The weight of the vehicle on the chassis is supported by your springs. As they age, failure can occur. If you notice your vehicle is lower on one corner, seems to lean when cornering, and/or you feel and hear clunking noises when going over bumps, your you may have a failing or broken spring.

Ball Joints, Control Arms, & Bushings = all play an important role in your suspension and handling.

With all steering & suspension components problems are primarily noticed by a change in the handling or “noises” that suddenly begin.
